Randall N. Stein, MD, Joins Horizon Eye Care

Horizon Eye Care has hired Randall N. Stein, MD, as a staff ophthalmologist. Dr. Stein brings to Horizon several specialties, including medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, as well as cataract and laser-assisted cataract surgery. He will be based at Horizon’s Huntersville, Mooresville  and University offices.

Lewis R. Gaskin, MD, president of the practice, says Dr. Stein “shares Horizon’s passion for providing expert, specialized eye care and performing some of the world’s most technologically advanced eye treatments and surgeries. Dr. Stein graduated cum laude from Tulane University in New Orleans and then earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania before returning to New Orleans. Dr. Stein completed his three-year residency in ophthalmology at Tulane University, where he received the prestigious C.S. O’Brien Excellence in Research Award. He completed his training with a glaucoma fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Stein is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. He has participated in numerous eye-related research projects. He was vice president of the Retina Honor Society at Tulane University.
