Education:

Dr. Garcia completed her medical studies at the University of Puerto Rico where she graduated top of her class, summa cum laude, on a full academic scholarship. She then completed an internal medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University. Her ophthalmology residency was completed at Boston Medical Center of the Boston University School of Medicine. There, she developed a passion for complex retinal disease and proceeded to complete a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Yale Eye Center of Yale University School of Medicine. During her private practice, Dr. Garcia went on to earn a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Professional Highlights:

Dr. Garcia is board certified and an active member in the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS). She has authored several scientific publications and has been an investigator for a number of clinical trials including a phase 2b/3 trial evaluating Restoret (MK-3000) for treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME), and a phase 3 study evaluating Tarcocimab for neovascular age related macular degeneration. Dr. Garcia lectures regularly at national meetings including EnVision, Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology and the Vit-Buckle Society. Dr. Garcia is also a volunteer mentor for the next generation of ophthalmologists and retina specialists through the AAO and ASRS.

Personal Background:
